CHANGES SINCE OUR LAST UPDATE ARE HIGHLIGHTED IN YELLOW
Hi everyone! First off, I hope that you and your family are healthy and safe. So much has happened over the past few months, that at times, it is really hard to believe. I know many of you have been affected by this pandemic personally, whether it be directly related to the virus, or financially, but also in regards to school and softball. We have felt it too.
I wanted to provide some updates on our upcoming camps and our recruiting situation. Please see the latest information below. We will continue to update this page as more information is known.
Please stay well and we hope to see you on the field soon!
We will be adding mini-clinics in December and January for hitting, pitching, and catching. Registration will open for these camps once we secure dates and a facility on or near campus. Please check back by November 1 for registration details!
With the development of local, state, and federal health guidelines, all camp participants will receive information regarding health and safety measures during camp. All participants will also be required to sign a COVID-19 waiver plus complete a short health screening questionnaire 24 hours prior to camp.
RECRUITING - updated October 19th
Even though we are permitted to attend tournaments starting September 1st, it will still be very important for teams and players to send us livestream links and video updates. We have not seen our players since early March, so we will be spending a lot of time working with them in the fall. Also, due to changes in recruiting budgets, we may not be able to travel to tournaments as much as we have in the past.
It has become super important for players and teams to livestream and/or archive their games using a reliable method. There are a number of platforms that can be utilized. I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to have a high definition recording device placed a minimum of 8 feet high on the fence. Having someone provide profile sheets and lineups before the broadcast or on social media is terrific. Announcing substitutions, batters, and defensive alignments during the game is also helpful. Once games are archived, it is beneficial to follow up with coaches via email noting at what point during the games your at-bats or defensive highlights occurred. We are currently watching tons of games, and being able to watch archived games is important, but we need it to be efficient. We are also paying close attention to the smallest details.....so be sure to carry yourself with confidence and enthusiasm at all times!
We have been moving forward with players in the 2021 class who we have evaluated over the past 18 months at tournaments or camps camps. At this time, we do not anticipate adding any further players to the 2021 class. Things could always change due to unforeseen circumstances, so please email Coach Vasko at email@example.com.
We are only in the identification phase for all other classes. So don’t worry, you are NOT late in the process!
We ask that players in all grad classes who would like to be considered/evaluated to do the following:
Send us current video of your skill work as frequently as possible. It does not need to be fancy, but we would like to see new video every couple of weeks. Add it to your recruiting profile or youtube channel.
Send us updated schedules anytime there are changes. This is important for when we are watching livestreams.
If your team is livestreaming practices or games during the summer, please send us those links!!
The campus at Frostburg State University is open for a limited number of campus visits. At this time, all visits have to be scheduled in advance with the head coach. We are only scheduling visits with those players who we have evaluated in person.
Reminder, due to NCAA rules, we are not permitted to email or call prospects until June 15th prior to their junior year, unless it is about a camp or questionnaire.
